In order to campaign successfully and also garner support for our activities,MAGGEMM now needs to take its message to the grassroots. MAGGEMM Campaign Officer (MCO)
SUMMARY OF POSITION
Mthwakazi Action Group on Genocide in Matabeleland and Midlands (MAGGEMM) is a not-for-profit pressure group committed to the search for truth and justice on behalf of victims of Gukurahundi. In order to campaign successfully and also garner support for its activities, MAGGEMM needs to take its message to the grassroots. Campaign Officers will therefore be the link between MAGGEMM and the general public.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Organising and co-ordinating MAGGEMM's campaigns and events at local level in liaison with the Director of Programmes.
Distributing MAGGEMM's campaign material in your local area
Creating a contacts database for MAGGEMM in your local area and forwarding this to the Director of Communications
Acting as a link between MAGGEMM and human rights groups and other significant organisations in your locality
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
No formal qualifications are necessary but any form of experience in the area of advocacy would be an advantage
Commitment/interest in human rights issues
Ability to communicate effectively(oral and written)
Reliable, dedicated, honest and ability to allocate time to self so as to engage in
MAGGEMM campaigns
Knowledge of the Gukuruhundi Genocide of Zimbabwe will be an advantage
Maintaining a non-judgemental approach and following anti-discriminatory practices
LOCATION
MAGGEMM Campaign Officers will be located in their home areas but may be required to travel outside of their area to (a) meetings of MAGGEMM Campaign Officers and (b) other meetings as determined by the Directors.
SALARY
MAGGEMM Campaign Officer Positions are unpaid and no benefits are offered.
